Did the Royal Wedding undermine women’s attitudes of equality?

A question was raised about whether the Royal Wedding was actually a step backwards for little girls & equality measures. Haven’t we raised our girls (worldwide) to expect equality & be career minded? Surely, Kate Middleton has just filled their minds with Prince Charmings & big frilly dresses…

In my opinion, I don’t think that was the case. Little girls already read Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, so what is the big deal? I think the Royal Wedding brought so many different people together across the globe! That can only be a good thing for young people to see. We don’t have to be brought together by just grief when bad things happen (like 7/7 or 9/11), but on joyous occassions as well. That can only be a good thing.

I resent people that believe that this only fills our kids’ heads with rubbish about wanting to marry a Prince, while disregarding the positive thing that happened last Friday. It isn’t non-sensical, & I don’t think that Kate really cared that he was a Prince. It was a proper love story…

Feel free to disagree.
